Access to Yachats Ridge via Cape Ranch Rd was interrupted recently. VtF has a gate key and permission from Manulife Forest Management, current Ridge property owner, to take tours up to the Ridge. However, in July tours had to be canceled because the lock on the gate had been changed.
Manulife did not know about the lock change until VtF notified them and hence had not given permission for the lock to be changed. Manulife immediately took care of the lock problem. However, tours are being suspended until it is known when (and if) logging will begin on the adjacent forestland owned by Clemente Rocha. Logging operations may interfere with access on Cape Ranch Road.
Tours will resume when it is safe to drive up to the Ridge via the Cape Ranch Road easement through the Rocha property.
