On Sunday, April 21, as part of the Yachats community’s observation of Earth Day, View the Future gave a presentation in the Yachats Commons sponsored by the Yachats Academy of Arts & Sciences (YAAS).
For 20 years, funded by grants and community donations, VtF has built and maintained trails, assisted people who want to place a conservation easement on their property, and advocated for the new permanent bridge over Amanda Creek to join segments of the Pacific Coast Trail.
Partnerships and volunteers have been key to the success of VTF efforts. Now, as John explained, View the Future is getting ready to hire its first employee, an executive director who will help move the organization forward as they work to protect Yachats Ridge.
As Joanne puts it, “Think of the Ridge property as a child who has had a long string of foster parents.” The Ridge has had eleven owners over the past 37 years, she explained, adding that what it needs now is a loving community to nurture it and make it into a jewel.
