Shelly and Dean Shrock moved to Yachats in 2012 after living in Eugene, Southern Oregon, and California. Yachats was a draw for Shelly due to her love of the outdoors, hiking, and her enjoyment of being in a natural environment. Shelly’s involvement with View the Future was spurred by her desire to become involved in efforts to preserve and protect the natural beauty of the Yachats area.
Shelly became a member of the VtF Board in 2016 serving until 2022. She was nominated to the position of Co-Secretary where her inherent organizational skills have been greatly appreciated. Shelly has reorganized VtF record management and has played a key role in website development. She also managed the records of VtF donors and donations. Shelly brings a unique mix of analytical and interpersonal skills that continue to help VtF move smartly forward while maintaining a personal touch.
Shelly describes her past work experience as one that moved from machines to people. She held a position for many years working with computers and later decided to become a massage therapist. During retirement, she has become known for her photography skills where she shares images of the beauty of nature she so appreciates. Shelly has also become a gardening resource; she is a past member of the Yachats Community Garden Board and leads the Yachats Highway 101 Garden-bed Project that has transformed the appearance of the Yachats 101 corridor.
