As part of its on-going contract work with the City and its Public Works Director, GSI Consultants held a virtual public meeting on Monday, September 12th, to present water conservation ordinances. The steering committee that helped to produce the City’s adopted Water Supply Protection Plan had recommended that such ordinances be considered by the City as an implementation step, furthering water supply sustainability. Suzanne de Szoeke and her colleague with GSI presented a Powerpoint presentation that generally explained how indoor water conservation ordinances and outdoor water conservation ordinances work, i.e., how they help to reduce domestic use of water by regulating flows from kitchen and bathroom fixtures, limiting irrigation of lawns, and encouraging use of drought-tolerant, native landscaping materials. An extensive question and answer period followed GSI’s brief presentation. GSI said it would address many of the questions and suggestions received.
