The Land Unit of Oregon Parks & Recreation Dept. (OPRD) is continuing a “due diligence” process to examine the possibility of purchasing Yachats Ridge. In January the Land Unit initiated a required process called a “yellow book appraisal” the the Manulife 950+ acres and the adjoining Weyerhaeuser properties (40+ 150 acres). The Land Unit is combining the yellow book appraisals on the properties to save costs. A presentation of the appraisal findings to the OPRD Commissioners is anticipated at their February meeting. However, that information will be in an Executive Session so the findings and decision process will not be public. The Commissioner’s next meeting will be in April. VtF hopes that Yachats Ridge will be on their open agenda to discuss. Patience is key. View the Future continues to be in communication with OPRD staff.
Our board members and volunteers welcome questions and concerns. Tours are being planned as weather permits. If you are interested in learning more about tours of Yachats Ridge, please contact Hui Rodomsky at huirodomsky@viewthefuture.org or Joanne Kittel at joannekittel@viewthefuture.org
