As the prior announcement states, VtF received $10,000 from the Three Rivers Foundation.
Additional progress has been made in that OPRD and the contracted engineering firm was able to rework the plans to allow the south-side of the bridge to terminate on the Kittel property, and not on Siuslaw National Forest property, saving both time and expense. Siuslaw National Forest remains very supportive of this project.
Angell Job Corps’ Urban Forestry Program supervisors and students, OPRD Project Manager, member of the Yachats Parks and Commons Commission, and Joanne Kittel had an onsite meeting at the proposed bridge location this month. Plans were made to take down and remove trees that will impinge on the suspension bridge. The vast majority if not all of the trees will be alder. This work will begin sometime in mid-April during which the majority of the Amanda Trail will be temporarily closed.
