2022 comes to an end, an important time for the all-volunteer board members of View the Future to reflect on our accomplishments and future goals. We continue to be strongly committed to aligning and building our projects and programs to preserve, protect, and enhance the natural environment, promoting collaborative actions for scientific, educational, recreational, cultural, and economic goals for the benefit of the Yachats Community and its future generations.
We want to express our heartfelt gratitude to our many partners’ and community members’ enduring support that you all have so generously given to help us achieve our accomplishments. Without you, none of the accomplishments listed below could have been achieved.

VtF Accomplishments in 2022
- February 28 Completion of the Amanda Trail Suspension Bridge construction
- May 14th Completion of the Amanda Portals
- May 21st Amanda Trail Bridge Dedication – “Bridging Cultures, Healing Hearts” – at the Amanda Gathering Place
- May 21st and 22nd – Performances of the play “Amanda Transcending” at the Yachats Commons
- Publication of an Interactive Pocket Guide to the Amanda Trail
- Accepted as Associate Member of the Coalition of Oregon Land Trusts
- Installed three new Board members
- Initiated our Board’s first Strategic Plan development process
- Sponsored Elakha Alliance talk at the Yachats Commons
- Initiated project with City of Yachats and Oregon Coast Visitors Association to install bike racks in town.
- Continued work with several Yachats-area landowners to conserve land and protect natural resources
- Continued efforts to preserve a significant tract of undeveloped land in the Yachats area
- Continued to monitor five area properties with conservation easements
- Served on the Fireside 804 Fund Committee
- Collaborated with the City of Yachats on a number of community and environmental projects and initiatives
- Co-presented with Oregon Parks & Recreation Department and Confederated Tribes of Coos Lower Umpqua and Siuslaw Indians at the 2022 Oregon Outdoor Recreation Summit in Welches Oregon.
