On June 20, eighteen students and two instructors from OSU’s School of Visual, Performing, and Design Arts joined Joanne Kittel, co-chair of View the Future, to learn about local First Nation history.
Joanne wove their history into the story of efforts to bring “historical truth” to the Yachats community with Tribe supervision. Over the years, this partnership has brought people together to create signage, books, and ceremonies. The bridge over Amanda Creek was a collaborative effort and symbolizes the bridging of cultures and the healing role of truth-telling under the auspices of View the Future and its mission of cultural preservation on the central Oregon coast.
