The start of the new Amanda Trail Suspension Bridge Project is on schedule to begin October 1, 2021 the day after the end of the Marble Murrelet and Spotted Owl nesting seasons. Prefabrication of some parts of the bridge will be built before that date. For 45 days after construction begins (Oct 1, 2021 – Nov 15, 2021), the Amanda Trail will need to be periodically shut down as the project proceeds. A committee has been created and planning is underway for a major dedication event to be held at the bridge and in Yachats on May 21, 2022. The planning team is working in conjunction with Oregon Parks & Recreation Department and will soon be meeting with the Confederated Tribes of Siletz Indians and Confederated Tribes of Coos, Lower Umpqua, and Siuslaw Indians. More information will be comming.
