Oregon Parks & Recreation Department (OPRD) has been very supportive of Yachats Ridge being placed in public ownership. They have been diligent in pursuing options to consider purchase of the property.
The VtF extended community’s outpouring of support for the Ridge project is a key factor in OPRD’s consideration to acquire the property. However, OPRD’s budget for acquisitions is currently limited, and they have fiscal demands in all areas, including prior properties that are already in negotiation.
Therefore, they have informed VtF that there will be no action any time soon with OPRD. Yachats Ridge remains on their watch list, and they support VtF efforts to transfer the property in public ownership for environmental and cultural preservation as well as for public use.
View the Future continues to actively work with existing partners as well as seeking new opportunities to secure protection for the property.
