After nearly five months of construction, the bridge is finished, and Gathering Area is open to the public. But the project is not finished. Trail repairs are still being made, native plants are being planted with
donations from the Midcoast Water Shed Council’s Beaver Creek nursery; Angell Job Corps’ Urban Forestry Dept is building benches out of a Sitka Spruce trunk; VtF board members are building benches out of logs for the Gathering Area; replacement steps are being installed; and the Fire Crew with Angell Job Corps will be coming to prep an additional area for the audience to stand during the dedication. View the Future Board members and Trail Crew members are working several days a month to get the area ready for the May 21 dedication.
More information on the May 21 dedication titled “Bridging Cultures & Healing Hearts” can be found on the VtF web site https://viewthefuture.org/the-new-amanda-trail-suspension-bridge-bridge-dedication-event/
